Ellis Square Social - Beverly, MA
Ellis Square was formerly Barrel House and we had a small hand in that project so it was nice to be brought back for the rebrand and revamp many years later. the idea was to create a more approachable American bar that had some fun and flair while keeping some of the beautiful elements that made the former establishment so popular. We created a 5’-wide ESQ ghost mural on the back brick wall which acts as a focal point for folks just coming in through the door. We also utilized former BH metal letters through the room for “Toilettes” and “American Bar” signage on the walls. Inside eat bathrooms, we created full wall photo murals; Hepburn for the women’s and Hemingway for the men’s room. Lastly, one of the owners is a huge Rancid fan and we utilized his Timmy Time Bomb artwork collection to create a collaged paper hallway for the bathroom area. Each piece of artwork was printed at a different size and posted onto the wall as we saw fit. We glazed the entire hallway with a matte glaze for added protection. It creates a fun and unexpected atmosphere while waiting for the bathroom. Several photos in this slideshow are compliments of Northshore Magazine.
